Sobriety does not have to be a struggle

Being on the “recovery roller coaster” is exhausting and costly. Don’t wait until it’s too late to avoid the inevitable health problems, losing your job, stressed-out relationships, going to jail, or worse…

Rick had been told by his last counselor that he needed to get honest with himself and the only thing he needed to change was “everything.”

Besides feeling like he was being talked down to, Rick was frustrated and felt that the counselor hadn’t been listening to anything he was saying. He had managed to stop drinking on his own for a while and still had his job – wasn’t that worth something?

Shelley had been told she was a “chronic relapser.” If you asked her, she would have a hard time coming up with what that really meant. One thing was certain, she was feeling like she couldn’t do anything right. She had a court date coming up and was feeling cornered by people telling her what she needed to do.

Quickly and effectively change your relationship with alcohol and drugs.

Don’t put this off because of a previous bad experience or your own logical reservations. Starting now stops you from incurring more negative consequences and opens the door for improved circumstances. Change won’t necessarily be fun, but it doesn’t need to be excruciating.

12-step meetings and treatment “programs” don’t work for everyone. I have helped hundreds of people make meaningful changes in their lives, and I can help solve your addiction problems on your own terms. Get confidential, professional help now.

Feeling hung up or alone in recovery should be short-lived. Focusing on your natural healing abilities restores self-confidence and uncovers the unique path that will define your journey. Once begun, things get better quickly.

Treating addiction shouldn’t be a formula. There are ways that work for some people, and those that don’t. Doctors don’t treat cancer that way, and neither should counselors. You’ll learn a unique strategy that should yield some immediate improvements!

Practical relapse prevention…

Is not endlessly and painfully focused on failure. My emphasis is based on strengths and creates a logical solution that works.

A personalized, methodical plan that has you as the driver. Whether it’s quitting altogether, cutting down, or eliminating one (or more substances), the goal is quality of life!

Proven strategies

Forget about filling out endless “packets” and re-living the past with no discernible plan. I use a combination of solution-focused, clinically based methods delivered in the right dose and compassionate common sense.

We will take a serious look at mistaken beliefs about the recovery/relapse process that prevent people from living the life they’ve always dreamed of.

Flexibility through online and in-person services.

Don’t wait to take time off work or rely on someone else for transportation.

Ideal for working professionals, students, or just convenience. Online counseling may not completely replace office visits, but it offers additional support and flexibility. Complete confidentiality and compliance with privacy laws are assured.

Family Matters

Whether it’s a here-and-now crisis or a planned exercise…

I have a network of reliable providers with whom I work that make an intervention
more than a “money grab” referral to a high-end program. This is a collaborative
effort that considers: Cost, location, age, comfort level, and culture. Aggressive
confrontation is unnecessary and usually counterproductive.

More about systemic interventions

Hi, I’m Chris.

Curious, compassionate, and a little edgy. I don’t do aggressive confrontation or give unwanted advice. 20 years in the field have not turned me into a prison guard or a 12-step guru.

I got sober in AA in 1999, but never felt like I received the full benefit.

In 2010 I decided to leave behind the ideas that didn’t work for me and focus on developing the ones that did. A combination of applied clinical techniques and a common sense philosophy is what’s worked best for me.

Recovery from the seemingly hopeless state of addiction is within anyone’s grasp, but people often feel boxed into a “one size fits all” approach (that can be generally summarized as: “Do what I say, and you can thank me later”).

What I’ve come up with is more than a “not the same as” method; it’s really and truly what you want to do, to achieve success as you define it.
